Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Review

In what could prove to be the most popular, and talked about film for many years, the brilliant Harry Potter series finally came to an end with the final film in this outstanding saga.

Anyway, let's move onto the review...

Part 1: Opening scenes:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 kicks off right where part 1 ended, with Lord Voldemort breaking into Albus Dumbledore's tomb and extracting the Elder Wand before shooting a spell into the sky. The scene then cuts to the castle of Hogwarts, no longer the happy magical place we have known all the series, but now more a concentration camp-like place. Severus Snape watches the students being marched into the castle without a flicker of thought or emotion.

Part 2: Shell Cottage:
The part switches to Shell Cottage where we find Harry Potter sitting in front of the dead elf Dobby's grave with a stone titled "Here lies Dobby, a free elf" written on it. Harry looks into his two-way mirror, seeing his reflection in it. Inside the cottage, Luna Lovegood admires the building and says to Bill Weasley, who nows owns the place and says "It's beatiful here". Bill looks at Luna and replies "It was our aunt's. The Order uses it as a safe house, or what's left of us anyway". Harry then comes in and abruptly tells Bill he needs to speak to the goblin. Bill leads Harry, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger to the room where the goblin Griphook, is resting. Harry asks how Griphook is, and Griphook disinterestedly says "Alive". Harry tells Griphook that he needs to break into a vault at Gringotts. Griphook says he does not need gold after Harry offers him some in return for helping him. Griphook points at Gryffindor's sword and tells Harry he wants it, asking how he came by it. Harry tells him 'it's complicated' before asking why Madam Bellatrix Lestrange thought it should be in her vault, to which Griphook cooly replies 'it's complicated'. Harry leaves Griphook and heads in to question the wandmaker Ollivander. Harry shows him two wands, and while Ollivander tells them to be careful about the use of Bellatrix Lestrange's wand, as he describe's it as 'unyielding', he tells Harry that the wand that belonged to Draco Malfoy is safe to use. Harry then asks "What, do you know about the Deathly Hallows?". Now, in the book, Ollivander doesn't have a clue what that means, however, in one of many changes for the movie, he knows what imeans, and tells Harry it is rumored there are three. The Elder Wand, the cloak of invisibilty and the resurrection stone. Ollivander says he doesn't believe what he describes as an 'old wive's tale'. Harry tells him abruptly that he's lying, and that he knows Ollivander told Voldemort about the Elder Wand. Ollivander says they were only rumours, and warns Harry that if it is true, and that Voldemort has the Elder Wand, then Harry really has no chance. Harry calmly states he will just have to kill Voldemort first.

Part 3: Gringotts
Harry, Griphook, Ron, who is disgiused as a foreign wizard for going into Gringotts, and Hermione, who is disgiused as Bellatrix, meet outside Shell Cottage to apparate into Diagon Alley. Harry tells Griphook they are relying on him, and if he gets them safely in, the sword is his. They apparate into Diagon Alley where a by passing wizard says to Hermione "Madam Lestrange" and forgetting who she is completely, she wishes him a good morning and Griphook furiously reminds her that she is Bellatrix Lestrange and not a schoolgirl. Ron throws the invisibility cloak over Harry and Griphook as they enter Gringotts. Hermione goes up to the head table and tells the goblin she wishes to enter her vault. The Goblin at the head asks for identification, before hurring off to get the Head Goblin, Bogrod to come and talk to Hermione. Ron realizes that the Goblin's have been warned that there might be imposters arriving. As a wizard heads towards them to arrset them, Harry is forced to act quickly and use the imperius curse on Bogrod, who dreamily says "Very well Madam Lestrange, if you will follow me"

Harry, Ron, Hermione, Griphook and Bogrod then go down on a Gringotts cart to the very depths of Gringotts and go through a load of water on the way. The cart then flips them down, and they plummet down the surface from hundreds of feet. Just as they might die, Hermione yells "Aresto Momentum!", a spell which stops them right before collision a few yards above the ground, before they drop down. They all shakily get up, and Harry notices to his horror that Ron and Hermione are themselves again. Griphook tells them that The Thief's Downfall wears away all enchantments, which is proved when Bogrod gets angry that the trio and Griphook are down at this part of Gringotts, and Ron is forced to put the imperius curse on Bogrod again. They continue forward where they find a dragon resting, the dragon hears them and wakes up, but as it attempts to attack, Griphook grabs a little device, hands one to Ron and grabs one for himself. He starts to shake it fast, along with Ron as they continue forward. Griphook tells them "It's been trained to expect pain when it hears the noise" and Hermione, in an upset way, replies "That's barbaric". They get past the dragon and safely into Bellatrix's vault.

Once inside, they activate 'lumos' which gives them light. Hermione hastily says 'accio horcrux' whoch of course, doesn't work. They begin to search around for the horcrux and just as Harry realizes which cup is the horcrux, Hermione accidentaly nudges one of the cups, causing many more to come and Griphook calls out from the door "They've added the gemino curse, everthing you touch will multiply" and Harry demands the sword and Hermione tosses it to him. Harry catches the sword and starts to fight his way though the constantly spreading cups. Harry manages to use the sword to pull the cup by the handle towards him, but, Harry gets buried in the constantly growing amount of cups. Harry however, fights his way out of the pile of cups but loses his grip on the cup and Griphook grabs it and Harry tells Griphook they had a deal. Griphook snarls "The cup for the sword!" and Harry passes Griphook the sword and Griphook tosses the cup to Harry. Griphook then slams Bogrod's hand against the door to open it, before turning to the struggling trio, smirking and says "I said I'd get you in, I didn't say anything about getting you out!" and the cups spread out of the vault with Harry, Ron and Hermione on top of the cups. They run to find Griphook and Bogrod below where the dragon is, Griphook again using the device to hurt the dragon, however once Griphook leaves, Bogrod, who doesn't have one of those devices without realizing, and the trio realize that Bogrod is still under the imperius curse. The dragon blows Bogrod out of the way with it's fire, killing the Goblin, Ron splutters "That's unfortunate" as several wizards come along and start firing spells at them. Hermione tells the other two they can't just stand here. Ron tells her she's the brilliant one, she says she has an idea but it's mad. Hermione casts reducto on the balcony ahead of them before jumping onto the dragon and Ron and Harry follow her. Hermione releases the dragon and it starts to climb up Gringotts, knocking a cart away along it's climb. They come to the desk area and the dragon breathes fire on anyone unfortunate enough to be in the way. The dragon breaks through the top of Gringotts before flying away. Ron yells "That was brilliant!" as they fly north. After a while, they come to an area where there is lots of water, and Ron says "I say we jump!" and Harry yells "Now!" and they all jump off the dragon into the water.

As they are in the water, Harry starts seeing visions of Voldemort's anger at the loss of another Horcrux, killing everyone that worked at Gringotts, Goblin and Human alike. Harry sees Voldemort and his snake Nagini, walking though a pile of dead, bloodified bodies as Voldemort tells Nagini that she needs to stay close to him. As Voldemort leaves, Narcissa, Lucius and Draco Malfoy stand and look at each other. Unaware to them. The dead body of Griphook, who is holding the sword still, and the sword slowly disappears.

Part 4: The Lost Diadem
Harry, Ron and Hermione get back on shore and Harry tells them Voldemort knows. Knows where they were, what they took, and that they're hunting horcruxes. Harry tells them Voldemort's angry and scared. Harry says Voldemort knows if they kind and destroy each horcrux, they'll be able to kill him, and that the last horcrux is at Hogwarts and that they need to go there now. Hermione says they must plan first but Harry shoots her down with a cool quote saying "Hermione, when have any of our plans ever actually worked? We plan, we get there, all hell breaks loose". Ron wonders if Voldemort is dying as he is growing weaker with each destroyed horcrux, but Harry tells him it's more like he's wounded, and more dangerois than ever.

The three of them apparate to Hogsmeade, but immediately set off the alarm system, causing Death Eaters to come looking for them. The Death Eaters get close, but another disturbance sends them off. The trio then try to force their way through a gate before a door opens behind them and a man tells them to get inside. After the man sends the Death Eaters away, he tells the trio they're bloody fools coming back. Harry tells the man, who is Ablus's brother Aberforth Dumbledore, that they needed to get into the castle and that Dumbledore have them a job to do, and Aberforth replies with one of my favourite quotes from the movie "Did he now. Nice job? Easy?" and Harry tells Aberforth they've been hunting horcruxes, Aberforth tells him that's not a job, it's a suicide mission. He adds that they should leave, live a little longer. Harry says that Dumbledore trusted him to see it through. Aberforth angrily and boldly says how does Harry know he can trust Albus, and when he was alive, did he ever mention his brother's name, or his sister's. Harry states he doesn't care what happenned between Aberforth and his brother, all he cares about is getting into the castle. Hermione thanks Aberforth as he sends his sister off for saving their lives. Suddenly, Aberforth's sister Ariana, returns with someone, and the portrait of Ariana opens to reveal Neville Longbottom who looks "Like hell, I reckon" says Neville upon greeting them, before telling Aberforth that more people would be coming through. As they head down the passageway, Neville tells the trio it's not like Hogwarts anymore. Neville says to them "Let's have some fun, shall we?" before opening another door.

As Neville opens the door, he calls out to a room (Room of Requirement) "Hey! Listen up you lot, I've brought you a surprise!" and Seamus Finnigan replies "Not more of Aberforth's cooking I hope, it will be a surprise if we can digest it" and Neville grimaces before standing back to reveal Harry and the room gasps and everyone starts cheering and yelling "Blimey!" and "Harry!" as Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville climb down to join the room. Harry hugs school friends Dean Thomas, Seamus Finnigan, Padma Patil, Lavender Brown and Cho Chang before Neville intervenes saying "All right you lot, don't kill him before You-Know-Who get's a chance" and Harry tells them all that there's something they need to find, hidden in the castle. Neville asks what is it and Harry replies that he doesn't know. Dean asks what is it to whicj Harry also says he doesn't know before adding "I realize it's not much to go on" and Seamus replies "That's nothing to go on" and Harry tells them it belongs to Ravenclaw, it's small and easily concealed. Luna Lovegood pipes up and tells them about Rowena Ravenclaw's lost diadem, stating it's famous but Cho reminds her it's lost. Ron asks "Excuse me, but could somebody tell me what a bloody diadem is?" and Cho tells him it's like a crown/tiara. A noise erupts from behind them and Ginny Weasley arrives and says "Harry". Harry goes into a sort of trance at the sight of his girlfriend and stutters "Hi there" and Ron, who had waved a hand in greeting but recived no acknowledgent says "Six months she hasn't seen me and it's like I'm a franky first year, I'm only her brother" and Seamus cheekily tells him "She's got lots of those though! She's only one Harry!" and Ron tells Seamus to shut up. Ginny tells them Snape knows Harry was spotted in Hogsmeade.

Alecto and Amycus Carrow watch from the staircases as the Hogwarts students of the four houses march into the Great Hall. Snape tells them that Harry Potter was sighted in Hogsmeade, and warns that anyone, staff or student who attempts to aid Harry will be punished, along with anyone who is deemed to have knowledge of this event. For a couple of seconds there is silence, and then a Gryffindor student walks forward, which turns out to be none other than Harry himself. He looks at Snape and tells him "It seems, despite your exhaustive defensive strategies, you still have a bit of a security problem headmaster" as the Great Hall doors swing open and Arthur and Molly Weasley, Fred and George Weasley, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Bill Weasley, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Remus Lupin, Neville Longbottom and Fleur Delacout enter as Harry adds "And I'm afraid it's quite extensive". Harry loses his head completely and yells at Snape "Tell them how it happenned that night! Tell them, how you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him! Tell them!" Snape whips his wand out in anger but Minerva McGonagall intervenes to protect Harry. McGonagall then begins casting spell after spell at Snape who deflects them away until eventually the two Carrow's are knocked out and Snape transforms and flies through the window. McGonagall lights up the place again as almost everyone in the hall begins cheering, which stops almost immediately when Voldemort amplifies his voice to make it much worse and says as many students clutch their hands to their ears "I know that many of you are prepared to fight. Some of you may even think that to fight is wise. Give me Harry Potter, do this and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter, and I shall leave Hogwarts untouched. Give me Harry Potter, and you will be rewarded". Once Voldemort stops talking, a awkward silence descends on the hall, until a yell from Pansy Parkinson comes out and says "What are you waiting for? Someone grab him!" which happens immediately when Ginny grabs Harry, but to defend him and many more students move in to protect Harry. As everyone looks on, a shout comes from outside the hall and the caretaker Argus Filch burts in and yells "Students out of bed! Students on the corridor!". Mcgonagall tells him they are supposed to be before ordering Filch to remove Pansy and Slytherin house from the hall. Filch leads Slytherin house away as Harry tells McGonagall he needs as much time as she can get him. McGonagall tells harry it is good to see him, and Harry says the same. Harry then walks out of the hall to head for Ravenclaw Tower.

Neville tells McGonagall as they walk out of Hogwarts to set it straight, that's she's going to risk permission to do this and she says that is correct and Neville tells her "To pull it off, boom?" andMcGonagall makes a vivid demonstration and shouts "BOOM!" and tells Neville to go and confer with Seamus Finnigan and the two of them run off. Flitwick tells her that they can't hold You-Know-Who away for ever. McGonagall replies "That doesn't mean we can't delay him, and his name is 'Voldemort', so you might as well use it, he's going to try to kill you either way". McGonagall then brings the Knights of Hogwarts to life and tells them that Hogwarts is threatened and to do their duty to the school. As the Knights march forward, McGonagall clutches herself excitedly and says "I've always wanted to use that spell!" as Horace Slughorn, Filius Flitwick and Molly Weasley start casting enchantments to create a shield to protect the school. Harry runs up the stairs to Ravenclaw Tower followed by Luna Lovegood, who tells him she needs to talk to him. Harry trys to shake her off saying he's 'pre-occupied' and 'later'. Luna eventually losers her cool for the first time ever and yells at Harry "Harry Potter! You listen to me right now!" and goes on to tell him to remember what Cho Chang said, that the diadem is lost and that no one alive has seen it, so she says it's obvious. They need to talk to someone who's dead. They stare out the window at the shield and other defences of Hogwarts. Flitwick allows himself a brief smile at the strength of the defence they have. Luna leads Harry to where the Ravenclaw Ghost resides. Harry talks to the ghost who won't tell him where the diadem is, saying that a strange boy with a strange name 'Tom Riddle' had lied to her and taken the diadem as his own. Harry tells her Tom has lied to lots of people. The Ravenclaw Ghost yells in Harry's face "I know what he's done! I know who he is, he defiled it, WITH DARK MAGIC!!!". The Ravenclaw Ghost tells him that the diadem is at the place 'where everything is hidden'.

Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione head to the Chamber of Secrets. Ron opens the door before telling Hermione he knew how to do it because Harry talks in his sleep. When they get into the Chamber of Secrets and after obtaining a basalisk's fang, Hermione destroys the cup at Ron's insistence. A tsunami erupts once it is destroyed and almost kills Ron and Hermione but they escape. They then share a passionate kiss before laughing about it. Outside, Snatchers converge on the Covered Bridge but the shield disintigrates three Snatchers and Neville Longbottom, who is on the bridge, teases them by saying "Yeah! You and who's army?" as the Snatchers look at him. Remus Lupin, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Dean Thomas discuss plans for the tower they are defending. Voldemort decides enough is enough and uses the Elder Wand to destroy the shield. Once the shield is gona, Scabior the head Snatcher, puts a foot forward to check it really is gone. Once proven, Scabior and several other Snatchers chase Neville across the bridge, casting stunning spells at him, however Neville fires a spell behind him which destroys part of the bridge and Scabior and Snatchers fall to their deaths. Neville almost falls as well but manages to cling onto the very end of the bridge, heaving himself up and joking in front of more students, including Seamus and Ginny, saying "That went well". The Battle for Hogwarts begins as Death Eaters, Dementors, Giants and Spiders coverge on Hogwarts and attack. The Knights of Hogwarts take down a few Giants, as a Death Eater heads in through a tower, killing one wizard before engaging in a duel with Arthur Weasley, as Kingsley Shacklebolt stuns another Death Eater. Harry heads for the Room of Requirement but stops to talk to Neville and Ginny. Neville tells Harry that he is looking for Luna and that he's in love with her. Harry and Ginny share a brief kiss. Harry tries to tell Ginny he loves her, but she tells him she knows, before heading off to join the battle.

Part 5: The Room Of Requirement
Harry enters the Room of Requirement and using his senses, finds where the diadem is. As he is about to leave however, a voice says "Well, well" and Draco Malfoy appears, flanked by Gregory Goyle and Blaise Zabini. Draco demands for his wand back, Harry asks him why didn't he tell Bellatrix who he was at Malfoy Manor. Before Draco can answer, Goyle rumbles in his ear "Come on Draco, don't be a prat, do him!" but before Draco, Goyle or Blaise can attack Harry, Hermione and Ron appear and Goyle aims a killing curse at Hermione but misses. Goyle runs off and Ron hares after him, yelling "That's my girlfriend you numpty!" Harry and Hermione find where the diadem fell, only for Ron to return shrieking that Goyle set the place on fire. The trio start to run away while Goyle is trying to put out the fire but never learning how to control the spell known as 'Fiendfyre'. As Blaise and Draco climb up a stack of objects to get away from the flames. Goyle resorts to throwing his wand away before following them. Meanwhile, Ron falls against some broomsticks and the trio fly up into the air to escape. As the others climb, Goyle grabs a loose chair, which topples and falls and Goyle is engulfed by the flames with Draco greatly upset about the death of his friend. Harry and Ron rescue Draco and Blaise respectively before flying out the door. Harry stabs the diadem with the basalisk's fang, before Ron kicks it back into the Room of Requirement, and the doors close just as the Fiendfyre almost escapes.
Voldemort is in great pain and starts contemplating. When the imperiused ius Thicknesse distracts his concentration, Voldemort kills with the killing curse without a moment's hesitation. Voldemort tells Nagini to stay close. Harry realize's the snake is the final horcrux and tells Ron and Hermione this. Ron tell's Harry to look inside Voldemort's mind, find the snake and if they find it then they can end it. Harry finds out Voldemort is in the Boathouse.
Part 6: The Battle Of Hogwarts and Harry's Sacrifice
Harry, Ron and Hermione run through the battle raging across the castle, blasting Death Eaters out of the way. They then are forced to outrun a Giant and several Spiders. As they run into a hallway, they see a horror site at the end of the hallway as Fenrir Greyback has killed their classmate Lavender Brown, and is eating at her flesh. Hermione cries "No!" and slams Greyback through the window and over the cliff before running on. As they run around a corner, hundreds of Dementors head for them but Aberforth Dumbledore repels them with a huge patronus. The trio continue on their way to the Boathouse.

The trio arrive at the Boathouse and hide behind it. Voldemort is telling Snape how the wand cannot serve him properly, even though he is extroardinary, the wand resists him. Voldemort tells Snape that he has been a faithful servant, but that only he can live, for ever. As Snape starts to plead, Voldemort slashes Snape's throat open with his wand, before telling Nagini to 'kill' and Nagini attacks Snape again and again. When it is over, with Voldemort gone. Harry, Ron and Hermione walk in to find Snape in the last moments of his life. Snape gives Harry some memories for Harry to take to the pensieve. As his final words, Snape says "Look at me. You have your mother's eyes" before dying. As Harry tries to recover from the shock, Voldemort amplifies his voice again and says "You have fought valiantly, but in vain. I do not wish this. Every drop of magical blood spilt is a terrible waste. I therefore command my forces to retreat. Dispose of your dead, with dignity Harry Potter, I now speak directly to you. On this night, you have allowed your friends to die for you rather than confront me yourself. There is no greater dishonour. Join me in the Forbidden Forest and confront your fate. If you do not do this, I shall kill every man, woman and child who tries to conceal you, from me".

Harry, Ron and Hermione then walk back into the castle and into the Entrance Hall. Where the dead and alive are there. Harry sees Argus Filch being attended to, Pomona Sprout talking to a student and Trewlany confirmed the death of Lavender Brown. Ron and Hermione walk over to the Weasley's, to find that Fred is dead. His twin, George, is distraught and can't keep the sobbing and tears away. Ron joins his mother, Molly on the floor and they weep over Fred's body. Meanwhile, Harry looks at the bodies, beside Fred and he too, let's a tear down his cheek as he recognize's Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks. Harry quickly walks way from the room to the pensieve. He puts Snape's memory in and looks into them. First, he sees Petunia with his mother, Lily Evans, Lily shows Petunia how she can make a flower grow, Petunia calls Lily a 'freak'. As Petunia slags Lily because of that, Snape appears and Petunia storms off. Later, Lily can be seen with Snape lying along the ground holding hands, Snape tells Lily that Petunia is ordinary, and Lily is special. In the next shot, the sorting hat puts Lily in Gryffindor, and while she smiles at Snape, Snape doesn't return the smile. James and Lily also introduce themselves in that bit. In the next shot, James is seen bullying Snape by knocking his books out of his hands. When he is older, Snape tells Dumbledore that Voldemort plans to hunt down Lily and her family. Snape begs Dumbledore to hide them and tells Dumbledore he will do anything for him. Another scene shows Lily telling a baby Harry that he is loved, and to be strong. Snape is shown going to Godric's hollow after James and Lily's deaths and cradling Lily in his arms while crying. Finally, Snape is told by Dumbledore that Voldemort will return, and Snape must help Dumbledore protect Harry. Dumbledore tells Snape a part of Voldemort, lives inside Harry and that Harry must die. Snape is furious and claims that he has been raising Harry 'like a pig for slaughter'. Harry comes out of the pensieve and looks distraught, knowing he must die.

Harry walks in shock through the chastle, heading to the Forbidden Forest. On the way, he finds Ron and Hermione at the bottom of a staircase. Ron tells Harry they were worried he had gone to the Forest, and Harry responds that he is going there now. Harry then proceeds to tell them that, without actually saying it, that he is a horcrux. Hermione tearfully begs Harry to let her go with him, but Harry denies herm reminding her and Ron to kill the snake. Hermione hugs Harry goodbye, and as Harry looks over Hermione's shoulders at Ron, he notices a tear slide down Ron's cheek. Harry walks off as Hermione continues to sob.

Harry walks into the Forbidden Forest. He takes out the golden snitch and says "I am ready to die". The snitch opens and reveals the Resurrection Stone. And appearing before him are his parents, James and Lily, his godfather Sirius and Remus Lupin. Harry stretches out his hand to Lily, who tells him he has been so brave. Harry asks why they are here, to which Lily replies simply "We never left". Harry aplogises to them as he didn't want any of them to die for him, and looks stricken at Lupin, worried about Lupin's son, Teddy. Lupin states that when he is ready, Teddy will be told what his parents died for. Sirius tells Harry dying is "quicker than falling asleep". Harry drops the stone and heads off to face Voldemort.

Harry walks into the forest area where Voldemort is waiting for him. As Harry walks up to Voldemort, a voice yells from the trees "Harry?! NO! What are yeh doin' here?! and Harry spots Hagrid tied up. The Death Eater, Rowle, orders Hagrid to be quiet. Voldemort then fires the killing curse at Harry and it appears to be all over.

But it isn't. Harry wakes up without his glasses and starts to walk around. Harry hears a moan and looks underneath a bench to find a bloodied creature lying there. Dumbledore appears and tells Harry he cannot help, before going on to tell Harry he is a wondeful boy, and a brave man. Harry asks what the creature is, Dumbledore tells him it is beyond either of their help. Dumbledore wonders where Harry thinks they are, Harry tells him he thinks it's Kings-Cross Station. They sit down on a bench, and Harry asks Dumbledore that he has to back. Dumbledore reminds Harry he is at Kings-Cross and could board a train if he wanted. Harry asks where would it take him, and Dumbledore laughs and says "On!". Dumbledore gets up to leave, but Harry stops him saying that Snape's and his Mother's patronus's were the same, and if Dumbledore thinks it is curious. Dumbledore tells Harry he does not believe it is curious, before leaving.

Harry finds himself back in the real world, and he lies down as if dead. Voldemort had also fallen over from the attack, and shakes off Bellatrix Lestrange's attempts to help him up. Narcissa Malfoy volunteers to check if Harry is dead. When Narcissa starts to check Harry for signs of life, and finds it. She whispers to Harry "Is he alive?", referring to her son Draco, to which Harry gives a tiny nod. Narcissa stands up and says "Dead".

The Death Eaters march on Hogwarts, with Hagrid, still tied up, carrying the 'dead' body of Harry Potter. Voldemort pushes one of the dead Giant's off the bridhe so the army can get across. Meanwhile, Neville Longbottom is the only Hogwarts defender outside the castle, and he has found the Sorting Hat, and he is cleaning it as he spots Voldemort and the Death Eaters approach. More of the Hogwarts defenders begin to come out of the castle at the sight of the army. Ginny Weasley appears with her father, Arthur and says, as she begins to believe her worst fears, "Who is that, Hagrid's carrying? Neville, who is it?! and Voldemort calls out to the crowd, Death Eaters and Hogwarts defenders alike, "Harry Potter, is dead!" and Ginny screams out, now completely heartbroken "NO!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!" and tries to rush to Harry's body, but Arthur holds her back, which is just as well, as Voldemort would have killed her. Voldemort taunts her, saying "Stupid girl!" before ranting on "Harry Potter is dead. From this day forth, you put your faith, in me" before turning back to his Death Eaters and yelling gleefully "HARRY POTTER IS DEAD!!!" and they answer him with laughter. Voldemort laughs as well before saying "And now is the time to declare yourself, come forward and join us, or die!" Lucius Malfoy interrupts and says "Draco" before signaling and the shot changes to Draco Malfoy, standing with the Hogwarts crowd, unwilling to fight against his school colleagues. Narcissa whispers "Draco. Come" and Draco, unwillingly, walks towards his parents. Voldemort congratulates Draco with a hug, before Draco joins his parents. Neville then steps forward bravely to confront Voldemort, wincing and limping from wounds picked up during the battle. Voldemort teases Neville saying he had hoped for better, before it goes into arguably the most emotional scene in Harry Potter. Voldemort says "And who might you be, young man? and Neville replies "Neville Longbottom" which gains a roar of laughter from many of the Death Eaters. Voldemort replies "Well Neville, I'm sure we can find a place for you in our ranks-" but Neville interrupts and says boldly "I'd like to say something". Voldemort looks like he might be considering killing Neville, before saying "Well Neville, I'm sure we'd all be fascinated by what you have to say" and Neville says "It doesn't matter that Harry's gone *"Stand down Neville" urges Seamus"* "People die every day! Friends, family. Yeah, we lost Harry tonight, He's still with us, in here! *Neville holds his chest* So is Fred, Remus, Tonks. All of them. They didn't die in vain! But you will, because you're wrong. Harry's heart did beat for us, for all of us, because you're over!" and Neville draws the Sword of Grffindor out of the hat. Harry opens his eyes and jumps out of Hagrid's arms, ready to fight. Harry yells "Confringo!" aiming at Nagini, but the spell deflects and hits several Death Eaters. Many Death Eaters realise the battle is lost and disapparate. Bellatrix urges Lucius to fight. Harry and the Hogwarts defenders back to the entrance to the castle. He tells the others as Kingsley deflects several spells that they have to kill the snake. Neville runs forward, wielding the sword, and Harry realises what's going to come, and as Voldemort aims with wand at Neville, Harry screams "NEVILLE! NOOOO!!! as Neville is blasted back inside the Great Hall. Voldemort and Nagini apparate to where they saw Harry go last. Lucius can be seen taking one last look at Hogwarts as he follows Narcissa and Draco away from the fight, as they desert Voldemort.

Harry hides on Voldemort on the stairs, before coming out to duel Voldemort. Harry then takes out part of the roof, distracting Voldemort as Harry tries to stab Nagini. Voldemort stops him though and as Harry falls down the stairs, Voldemort destroy's the Basalisk fang Harry was using. Voldemort turns into black smoke and follows Harry. Nagini sets off after them, only to be hit by a stone. Nagini turns and finds Hermione in front of her. Nagini forces Hermione to back against the wall, but Ron arrives and tries to kill Nagini with another fang. However Nagini knocks the fang away and Ron and Hermione are forced to run away as Nagini chases them. Meanwhile, the battle continues in the Great Hall. Voldemort meanwhile catches Harry in a tower, and strangles and entices him with a spell which catches Harry with his robes. In the Great Hall, Bellatrix attacks Ginny out of nowhere with a killing curse which narrowly misses. A furious Molly confronts Bellatrix and Molly says the iconic quote "Not my daughter, you bitch!" and as Bellatrix laughs, Molly begins to cast spells at her. Bellatrix then attacks, before laughing hysterically at Molly's attempts. Molly seizes her chance and attacks several times, eventually getting Bellatrix with the killing curse, before blowing Bellatrix's body to pieces with the Reductor curse. Voldemort then slaps Harry down at his feet, grabs Harry by the neck, and throws him back on the ground. Harry mockingly says "You were right! *Gets slapped again* When you told Professor Snape that wand was failing you, it will always fail you!". Voldemort forces Harry to the edge of the tower and says "I killed Snape!" and Harry retorts "But what if it never belonged to Snape? What if it's allegiance was always to someone else?" before saying "Come on Voldemort, let's finish this the way we started it, together!" and Harry grabs Voldemort around the neck and throws them off the tower. They start to apparate away, hitting many things as they fly. They eventually crash in the Entrance Courtyard. The two great Wizards crawl to their wands before attacking each other at the same time.

Elsewhere, Neville awakens from the spell, which was only a stunning spell, had knocked him out. Neville retrieves the sword and sets off. Nagini corners Ron and Hermione, Ron, in a vain, last, desperate attempt to stop Nagini, fires the killing curse, but it merely bouces off Nagini. Just as Nagini prepares to kill Ron and Hermione, Neville arrives with the sword and chops off Nagini's head, which turns into black smoke.

Harry senses Nagini's fall. And as Harry and Voldemort lock wands once more, it is no contest. Harry's spell forces Voldemort's back and back until Harry disarm's Voldemort. The Elder Wand is now in it's true master's hand, and Voldemort disintegrates and disappears. The war is over.

Harry returns to the Entrance Hall, with so many people he cares about in there alive and well. Harry hears Aberforth telling a joke to Dean and Seamus, sees Ginny resting her head on Molly's shoulder. As Harry prepares to leave he bumps into Hagrid, and they hug again. Harry then spots Ron and Hermione entering, holding hands. Harry, Ron and Hermione then leave to talk outside on the  Viaduct. Harry explains to them why the Elder Wand didn't work for Voldemort, explaining it had been Draco's until Harry disarmed Draco, making it Harry's. Harry then snaps the Elder Wand in two halves and throws it over the side of the Viaduct, despite obvious lust and wanting for it from Ron and Hermione. The three of them hold hands.

                                                         19 years later:
It's now time for Harry's cildren to go to Hogwarts. James Potter 2 and Albus Potter are going off to Hogwarts, along with Ron and Hermione's daughter, Rose Weasley. Harry's daughter, Lily, and Ron's son, Hugo, are both too young to go yet. Draco also has a son, Scorpius going as well. Albus asks Harry what will happen if he is in Slytherin. Harry tells him, calling him his full name 'Albus Severus Potter' that he was named after two Hogwarts headmasters, one of them was a Slytherin, and the bravest man Harry had ever known. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny watch their children depart as the Harry Potter saga reaches it's conclusion!

Now that the basis of what the film, is over, you'll be wanting my opinions on the movie, but first, here's a list of the memorable characters of the movie, and why I chose to list them.

Neville Longbottom: Far and away the unsung hero of this movie! His first introduction is leading Harry, Ron and Hermione to the Room of Requirement. He is the first good character to fight in the battle, warding off Snatchers on a bridge, before blowing the bridge up. He later reveals to Harry that he has feelings for Luna. Neville is the first person to see Voldemort and his army arrive, and is the first, and only brave enough person to confront Voldemort, making a speech before the battle resumes. Killing Nagini, and after all that he sits awkwardly with Luna at the end.

Minerva McGonagall: You can always expect Maggie Smith to put on a great job as McGonagall, this film, was by far her best yet. Some great funny bits. for examples, visibly demonstrating blowing someone out of the way shouting "BOOM!" and of course, "I've always wanted to use that spell!". McGonagall was the first to protect Harry Potter when Snape tried to attack him, and McGonagall was poweful enough to force Snape to flee, and kill the Carrows.

Seamus Finnigan: Seamus was portrayed as a bit of a comedy character this time around. When he wasn't making wise-crack jokes though, he showed he could be tough and help in battle. The most comedy part was by far, his tease of Ron after Ginny appears "She's got lots of those though! Only one Harry!"

Scabior: Such a short appearance, such a lame, pitiful death, but, such an awesome character. Scabior immediately rose to my favourite Harry Potter villain spot after Part 1. Nick Moran does such a superb job as Scabior, and I'm really glad Scabior had the role he did in the first part, unlike when it was Greyback's role in the book. Scabior had a terrible death here, getting killed by an exploding bridge, destroyed by Neville Longbottom.

Fred & George Weasley: I feel so SO upset for these two! To think that, for the first time ever, they struggled to put a word between each other, ending up being the last time they saw each other alive, just before the battle began, is so heart-wrenching. Oliver Phelps did a superb job at making George look so upset when George sees Fred's body. Fred's death wasn't shown in the movie, but the build up to it was, as you can see a Death Eater disarming Fred, as Fred lies backed up against a wall.

Ginny Weasley: Such an important role in this one. First seen when she returns to Hogwarts and finds Harry there. Harry appears in a bit of a trance at seeing Ginny again. Ginny is the first to inform them that Snape knows Harry has returned. Ginny is the first to protect Harry after Pansy Parkinson's outburst. Ginny is on the bridge when Neville is almost killed having blown up the bridge he was on. Ginny then kisses Harry briefly. She isn't seen again until Harry's 'dead' body is brought back, where Ginny gets all heartbroken and disbelieving. Her last action is when Bellatrix tries to kill her, but Molly steps in to save and protect her daughter.

Molly Weasley: A very good fighter during the battle. Molly first is seen as part of the force entering the Entrance Hall during the security problem. Molly then stands with McGonagall as she calls forth, the Knights of Hogwarts. Molly says enchantments soon after, along with Filius Flitwick and Horace Slughorn. Molly is later brave and valiant enough to defend her daughter Ginny and save her from Bellatrix, before killing Bellatrix.

Gregory Goyle: Definitly deserves a mention *Good & Bad*. Goyle was forced to take over from Crabbe's role, as there was an unfortunate circumstance, and the actor who played Crabbe could not return. Goyle's role in the movie still however, was smaller than Crabbe's in the book. Goyle got just one quote in the book, same in the movie, but this one was much shorter, and better, in my opinion "Come on Draco! Don't be a prat, do him!". Goyle is chased by Ron at one point, where he sets fire to the Room of Requirement. Goyle can't put the fire out, and resorts to throwing his wand away. Now, we all know Goyle is foolish, but, surely even Goyle would know what's a loose chair and what isn't, as he grabs a loose chair, which leads to him falling to his death. In my opinion, a very lame death, even just slipping due to sweat and falling into the fire would have been better.

Luna Lovegood: Great character, played by a great actress *Evanna Lynch* makes a perfect match! Anyway, Luna's role was unfortunately cut short in this film, pity, the more Luna the better as I say! Luna doesn't lead Harry to the Ravenclaw Common Room, but follows him outside of it. She later only appears when Harry's 'dead' body is brought by Voldemort, and at the end when she sits awkwardly with Neville. Let's not forget however, the only moment when Luna *Evanna* had to shout in the Harry Potter series! "Harry Potter! You listen to me right now!".

Draco Malfoy: Tom Felton does an amazing job as Draco. It's shocking to think that the real Tom is the exact opposite of Draco, a happy, easy-going person instead of a dangerous villain. Anyway, Draco's position amused me in this film. He wants to stop Harry at the Room of Requirement, but is unwilling to side with Voldemort, eventually in the Room, he just tries to save himself and escape, though he is effected when Goyle falls and dies in the fire. Draco later goes over to Voldemort when Harry's body is brought, though only so he couuld join his parents. He, along with Lucius and Narcissa, desert Voldemort soon after. Draco appears briefly 19 years later, with his wife and son.

Just before I give my verdict on the movie, and final score, I'd like to interest you with a edited scene, and a potential deteled one.

Edited:
Apparently, at one point in the movie, when Voldemort tells the Hogwarts defenders of how Harry didn't care for them, Ron bellows "LIAR!" at him, and Hermione weeps into Ron's shoulders. I feel this would have been an interesting thing to have in, and see what Voldemort's reaction to Ron would be. This did not make the final movie. It is unknown if this will be a deleted scene.

Potential deleted scene:
Some of you may remember, that in a trailer, one that contained bits of Parts 1 & 2, there was one shot where Voldemort asks of Harry "Why do you live?" and Harry replies "Because I have something worth living for!". This scene was not in the final movie, and is likely a deleted scene.

Final verdict: I'm a die hard Harry Potter fan, and I wanted to give this the best score I could. I wanted to give it the full 10/10. But, it just didn't give me cause to give it full marks. I'm afriad, I have to take marks off for two things. I'm taking .5 marks off for the lack of battle shown in the movie, all the build up, but little battle? I'm also taking another .5 off due to a lack of duels in the movie. There were so many duels in the book, that should have been in the movie. Effectively, the only duels were Bellatrix VS Molly, and Voldemort VS Harry. The duels ommited were Hermione, Luna and Ginny VS Bellatrix, Kingsley, McGonagall and Slughorn VS Voldemort, George Weasley & Lee Jordan VS Yaxley, Flitwich VS Dolohov, Hagrid VS Walden McNair, Ron & Neville VS Greyback, Arthur & Percy VS Pius Thicknesse. I would have loved to see all these duels, whether they cut them brief or not. However, by the point in which these duels occur in the book, Greyback and Thicknesse are dead in the film anyway, so the absence of they're  duels is understandable. However, I will give it a 9/10. The music was amazing *Had by eardrum's shattered*, the actor/actress performances were brilliant, and the detail/explosions were stunning.
